St. Albans is a ancient city in the same location of the Roman City of Verulamium. Before this it was a tribal city of the ancient British tribe of the Catevellauni. It is a beautiful town and was home to the  Monk Bede, who wrote the first history of the English people. It is home to a Cathedral of St Albans, go to the link to see the pictures of the Cathedral.
